The workshops at Celtic Connection Store in Lakefield continue to be a success!
The outdoor classroom is bright and breezy.  Drum building weekends with John transform the fairyland courtyard gazebo into an outdoor classroom that accommodates an intimate group of drumming enthusiasts.  John teaches three workshops, Native American Frame Drum, Celtic Bodhran and African Djembe.  The participants make their own drum using shells and hoops, skins, rings and rope.  The 2 one half day workshops are frame drum in the mornings and African drums in the afternoon.  Some participants travel quite a distance  to make their drums in this unique space.

If you want to find out more about this drum building opportunity you can call Mary at Celtic Connection 705.651.2021 or get in touch with John at Earth Tones Studio 705.455.9666.

We have moved!
Earth Tones Studio is now located in Guelph in the downtown core,  at 123 Woolwich Street, Trafalgar Building, Second Floor.

This summer has been very busy for us!  Our move to Guelph has things a but upside down.  We have a lot of drum making supplies! We are excited about our new studio space which is in the downtown area.  We are looking forward to offering regularly scheduled workshops there as well as still offer our mobile drum building workshops.  We will also be offering a Community Drumming Circle, so please be sure to inquire as we hope to get started in the very near future.  No experience necessary, all ages welcome!

Summer workshops are always fun.  If the weather is good, we hold the workshop outside under the canopy.  The day goes by very quickly learning about drum making, sharing stories and listening to drumming music.

If you have a heartbeat you can drum!

When John is not making drums he can be found working on a new prototype for his latest musical instrument made from recycled materials.
